ZeitNew Start of the TQ Show Group in February 2026:
After all those dance courses, you are ready to shine on the dance floor? Join us now as we start from scratch with our 4th choreography, set to premiere in early summer.
After an exciting collaboration with the orchestra Polyphonia, we return to our roots this year, placing dance itself in the center of the spotlight. Be part of developing and rehearsing a performance that celebrates the dances we love and the special moments that connect us at Tanzquotient.
Prerequisites: you have approx 1 year of dancing experience or more, you are confident in Viennese Waltz, and you are open to learning new movements and elements from other dances.
Please note that the show group is not a typical half-term course, but the aim is to gather a group of people who are interested in training together on a regular basis, and to finally perform together. If you are still unsure whether you want to join the show, you are invited to join us for a tryout training (just register normally via the website in that case, so that we know how many people to expect).
New Start of the TQ Show Group in February 2025:
After performing the show "Under Paris Skies" with live Music by Tanzkapelle Macadamia Zürich in Fall 2024, we now start our next exciting project with even more live music and even more acting. We are going to perform as part of the Operetta production Die Csárdásfürstin (The Csárdás Princess) with the university orchestra Polyphonia and solo singers. For this, we rehearse several pieces of choreography with elements from Viennese Waltz, Polka, and Csárdás.
Update April 2024:
We have started to develop the new choreo, but there is still enough time to catch up. So if you are interested, come to our training and can still join the show. First performances are planned during the fall term.
New Start of the TQ Show Group in March 2024:
After the successful performances of the TQ Show Group with the choreography Time Travellers in 2023, we now start from scratch with a new choreography. So it is the perfect moment to join us. The aim is to rehearse a show choreography that can be performed at TQ events, balls, etc. In the new choreography we want to put a stronger focus on the show aspects, e.g., by conveying a story and by combining (couple) dancing with elements of acting. And all this is planned to be combined with live music for the performances. An exciting project combining multiple forms of art is awaiting you.
Please note that the show group is not a typical half-term course, but the aim is to gather a group of people who are interested in training together on a regular basis over a longer horizon, and to finally perform together. If you are still unsure whether you want to join the show, you are invited to join us for a tryout training (just register normally via the website in that case, so that we know how many people to expect).
Update November 2023:
We have performed the extended edition of our choreography Time Travellers, amongst others, at the TQ Herbstball and at Polyball. The latter was the last planned performance of the choreography and we are currently making plans for the future.
Update May 2023
We have successfully performed our show multiple times and are now taking a break in learning new parts to rejuice ourselves and incorporate new members. Join us now! Check out our Show on YouTube!
Update February 2023
The TQ Show Group has developed a choreography on the topic "Time Travellers" and is preparing for the first performances. But after the show is before the show, so are still invited to join our trainings and to become part of future performances later this year or of future choreographies that we develop. More info in the original announcement below.
Announcement September 2022
Our aim is to rehearse a show choreography that can be performed at TQ events, balls, etc. We will start by training some basic elements of show & formation dancing, including typical figures, synchronicity of the group, orientation in the room, etc. Then, we will move on to creating and practicing a show choreography to a medley-style music whose theme will be chosen according to wishes and ideas from the group. The show choreography will be based on elements from the standard ballroom dances and Latin American dances, and possibly Discofox, so that joining the show group is a great opportunity for improving your skills in these dances.
