  • Für die Teilnahme ist eine gültige ASVZ-Mitgliedschaft erforderlich. (Als ETH- oder UZH-Studierende*r besitzt du diese automatisch.)

  • Um das Gebäude betreten zu können, musst du dich für den Kurs anmelden und den QR-Code scannen, den du nach der Bestätigung deiner Teilnahme erhältst. Sobald deine Teilnahme bestätigt wurde, erscheint der QR-Code hier auf dieser Seite.

  • Bitte bring ein Vorhängeschloss mit und verstaue alle Taschen, Jacken usw. in einem Schließfach. Es ist nicht erlaubt, Gepäck oder persönliche Gegenstände im oder vor dem Kursraum stehen zu lassen. Straßenschuhe sind im Kursraum nicht gestattet. Trage Tanzschuhe oder – falls du (noch) keine Tanzschuhe hast – Socken. Beim ASVZ-Schalter können Vorhangschlösser gekauft werden.

Beschreibung


About this course

In this training, we revisit the dances from the Ballroom courses focusing on how to dance them more nicely in terms of look, feel, and musicality. The training will help you on your way towards looking like a pro on the dance floor. You will learn to dance the known basic figures effortlessly and discover body movements that create the typical character of the dances, which will facilitate learning more complex figures in the future. The training also covers the topic of lead and follow to create a smooth experience within the couple so that both partners can enjoy the dance.

In general, we aim for a balanced leader / follower turnout, so that partnering topics can be better practised. Nevertheless, we encourage signing up even if you don't have a partner. We will not match single sign-ups into couples, and the teachers will make adjustments based on the leader / follower turnouts.

Requirements

You should be familiar with the dance taught at the lesson and mentioned in the description.

In general we recommend this course to everyone who has been dancing for up to 1.5 years, i.e. if you are taking Ballroom 1 to 6 at the moment. If you already have more experience, consider checking out our Advanced Ballroom Training for Standard or Latin.


Important Notes

  • You must have a valid ASVZ membership to participate (note as ETH or UZH student you will automatically have that).

  • Take a lock with you & store all your bags, jackets etc in a locker. No street shoes are permitted in the room (wear dance shoes for example, or socks if you don't have dance shoes (yet)).

  • To enter the building you will have to register for the class and scan the QR code which you will receive after your participation is confirmed.

Das Ballroom Training ist eine super Möglichkeit, die eigene Technik beim Tanzen zu verbessern! Jan und Lena haben den Kurs sehr angenehm gestaltet und tolles Feedback gegeben. Gerne wieder!

It is a very beginner friendly training and a safe space to ask question and gain new fancy dancefloor skills. I recommend checking the Group in the TQ community for the topic, I guess it could be hard, if you don't know the dance at all. But try it yourself - it has really helped me improve my technique!

Amazing course, one of the best I've done, the teachers had great vibe and were very professional, but also had time to really focus on giving personal feedback. Also loved the pace, it really felt like we were constantly learning, but the second everyone would get it we would switch and do something new/more complicated, so I really felt like we were using the time to the maximum without just patching the course to fill the hour. Overall amazing teachers and I would totally recommend the course

Marvellous course. Incredibly passionate and cheerful teachers. They also always adapted their style for the needs of the students. I cannot imagine living without ever experiencing this atmosphere.

This is a great course for learning the basic steps of four dances. The teachers are friendly and open, and explain the steps well. The course is well adapted for complete beginners, and a good refresher if you already know the dances a little. Even though it is 4 hours long, it is not very tiring as the course is distributed throughout the day.
