Description

Pay attention to the fact that this course takes place at Raum der Stille (ETH Hönggerberg) on 15.2. and Alumni-Pavillon (ETH Zentrum) on 17.2. 

 

Caution: the figures you will learn in this workshop can only be danced with sufficient space, i.e., typically not at TQ's Monday Open Dancing.

Prerequisite: completed Ballroom 5 or comparable level because this workshop requires good coordination, a stable frame, and a good understanding of rhythms.

This workshop treats basic jumping actions in the quickstep, including hops and scatter chasses, as well as figures to connect between jumped parts and swing dance parts.

The Quickstep course was super fun, we learned a good amount of figures and had time to practice them. We also learned a bit about the 'character' of the dance.

Great course. Build up the choreo bit-by-bit, making it easy to follow. Well-paced progression from dry practice to dancing through the entire combination learnt so far.

In diesem Kurs habe ich diverse neue Figuren und Variationen von Figuren, die ich schon kannte, gelernt. Chris ist hervorragend im Erklären der Figuren, ich habe viel gelernt. Gerne wieder!

As always, Chris presents interesting material that fits well to the groups abilities. It’s awesome to have this kind of advanced courses, which (together with the technique trainings on Fridays) create this group of dancers who want to improve together.

Chris does a very good job at explaining difficult figures/variations by first teaching more simple versions to then make it easier to learn the juicy stuff.

Chris hat ein grosses Theoriewissen und streut es in guten Maße in seine Kurse ein. Nicht zu viel, nicht zu wenig, gerade genug dass es interessant ist, man nicht nur die Schritte lernt, sondern auch lernt wie sie zusammen spielen sollen, und was sich auf andere Tänze übertragen lässt.

The dance course strikes the perfect balance between reviewing figures, improving technique and focusing on the variety that ballroom dancing has to offer. I greatly enjoyed every session of the course & look forward to the next course! Chris is an excellent teacher!

This is a fantastic course, I have learned so much, particularly how figures can be combined, when they can be danced, and how to dance them well. I also really enjoyed the explanations of concepts like swing and different energies of the steps within figures. Chris brings so much positive energy and happiness to his classes, which makes it even more enjoyable to learn and improve. There was also lots of individual feedback and input from the class.
