TimeKizomba is both a couple's dance and a music genre from Angola. Kizomba is considered a harmonious and sensual couple's dance. Kizomba consists of five different basic steps and is usually danced close together with the partner in the upper body area. The pelvis moves away from the partner's for better mobility. There are no figures in Kizomba compared to other dance styles, such as Salsa.
Other dance genres have emerged from "classic" kizomba, such as kizomba fusion or urban kiz. The origin of the "kizomba-related" dance styles is the result of the export of kizomba abroad, especially to Portugal, France, Great Britain, the Netherlands and Spain. The Urban Kiz dance style developed under the influence of Ghettozouk and mixes with R&B, rap, dance and hip hop, for example. The music to which Urban Kiz is danced has many dynamic tempo changes, with transitions to a slower tempo, accelerations and pauses.
While in "classic" Kizomba the dance is more grounded - typical of African dances - in the Urban Kiz dance style the legs are stretched and the body has more tension and energy of movement. In Urban Kiz, the body movements are synchronized with the music, using elements that are also found in Hip Hop, such as stops, taps and isolations.
In the Kiz / Kizomba course you will learn the basic steps and basics that you can later use on the dancefloor for Kizomba and Urban Kiz or other "kizomba-related" dances.
