TimeThis short winter workshop is dedicated to the graceful weaving movements of the Slow Waltz. In these figures, dancers move fluidly around each other using open steps that create volume and continuous motion with strong progression across the floor. Weaves are a key element in making Slow Waltz feel expansive and elegant.
For me, weaves were real game changers. They opened up so many new options and possibilities for dancing and combining figures. I only wish more people knew them – then we could dance them more often.
– Participant, previous edition.
We will take a detailed look at:
Basic Weave
Weave from Promenade Position
Weaves ending in PP
To make these figures more usable on a real dance floor, we will also practice figures that end in Promenade Position, so that we can enter the Weave variations with clarity and good flow. In particular, we will introduce the Open Impetus, a beautiful yet challenging figure with a strong rotation to the right and the Leader's Heel Turn.
In addition, we will look at the Open Natural Turn danced from Promenade Position and use it to create a weave-like action that could be described as a "Natural Weave from Promenade Position", a beautiful development, even though you won't find it as a named figure in the technique books.
To participate, you should have completed at least Ballroom 4.
