Description
Forró is the most popular music genre and couple’s dance from the Northeast of Brazil. Though there are many different styles, it is usually danced in a close embrace. Traditionally it has been the man leading the woman, a structure which is slowly blurring nowadays, especially in Europe where the popularity of Forró increased immensely in the last 10 years. The vibrant energy of Forró fuelled by its traditional instruments, the triangle, zabumba (Afro-Brazilian drum), and accordion is contagious. Rumour has it that its name originally stems from the English expression for all, a notion shared by the welcoming people who dance it.
