Description

The food&lab can be booked up to a week in advance so there is the possibity of a class being cancelled. In case of a cancellation we will notify you in advance. The missed class would then be added at the end of the course period.

During the social courses, we will teach you the basics of ballroom dancing. Ballroom dances are partner dances that are mainly popular in Europe and consist of two categories: Standard and Latin.

What you are going to learn

You are going to learn four classic dances with which you can shine on every dance floor. These dances are the elegant English Waltz, the vibrant Cha Cha, the modern Disco Fox and the upbeat Jive.

I really liked the atmosphere and the clear instructions from a well-experienced dance teacher. Thanks a lot :)

I think the course was pretty good. At first I was a bit sad that there is a partner change, but I think it really did level the learning experience up. Maybe sometimes the place was a bit small, especially when dancing the walzer. Ut for the other dances it was fine.

I think that if there were either more instructors, or less students, then each student could've had more attention. I felt a little lost with the steps at times, and had to ask for feedback, rather than having criticisms pointed out directly.

Loved the course! Instructors were patient and helpful. Learned and improved a lot. Thank you!

It was fun! It could be improved to make visual people like me understand the dancing steps (especially the turns and figures) by presenting a graphic or picture of the feet in a schematic way: a poster or whiteboard with something drawn would have helped me very much

I found that the course could have been a bit more systematic: - e.g. it took a while to get clear that the steps in the waltz always follow the box shape, and are then just performed in a turn or repeated without turn (for the change step) - similarly for other new figures, the instructors showed them well, but did not always connect it very much with the steps that one has already learned, which would have helped the learning process In general, it sometimes seemed like it was not clear between the instructors in which way exactly they want to introduce something new: e.g. one of them wanting everybody to follow in pairs, the other then going back to showing the steps individually. For that, maybe making a more detailed plan beforehand would have been better. Also, it did not help that there were a few substitutions of the teachers. What I liked specifically was their repeated comments about posture and tension, and how it showed very well in their dancing.

The floor of the room war not very well suited for dancing and neither were the poles in it (beginners have a hard time trying to not bump into them). Sometimes the pace was a little too quick, too little time ‚dry training‘ but of course its fun to try it with music right away. Maybe remember to also let people change back to their original partner once in a while.

Was a very cool experience! Personally, the teaching speed could have been slightly faster but it did fit definitely well!

Thanks a lot for your comittment. :) I think you could improve the choice of music. Especially during the waltz amd cha cha cha songs it was sometimes quite hard to hear the beat.

Great group climate, clear instructions, the partner switching was nice to meet new people, really liked it! Maybe there is some way to prevent people from getting grouped too many times? Sometimes I danced with the same person 3 times in the same hour (not that its bad, but meeting & talking to more people is also nice). Teaching quality and your enthusiasm were great!

I especially liked the balance between learning new steps/figures and practicing them. I also liked that we changed partner frequently.

I really liked the course and there is little to criticise about it. We definitely consider taking more courses in the future. Maybe the teachers could have given more personalised corrective feedback instead of just pointing things out to the whole group (I really don't mind being corrected, I think that's how you learn best)

Really cool course I want to do the continuing course

Sonst absolut super Kurs.

Sometimes the way how they thought us new figures was not the best. Specially for women is can be confusing if we learn a more complicated figure and they just say what the men need to do.

I had some prior background in some of the dances but for it being student run it was really well done. The location was not ideal with the concrete floor but that is a minor complaint

Ich denke ein entschiedener Satz wie "Give your partner a high five and then all the followers change clockwise to a new partner!" hätte viel besser funktioniert, da es so klar ist und keine Unsicherheit der einzelnen Teilnehmer zulässt.

The teachers are friendly and are ready to answer individual questions, which is very helpful when one is unsure about a certain step. Overall, very good course and positive experience

Es war einen super Kurs. Danke

Sonat tip top :)

I think more figures could be taught. We spent a lot of time on the basic step, which is nice but is more useful in combination with figures. Repeating the steps/figures learnt on several weeks would be more useful in my opinion than spending a lot of time on it on only one day.
