Description

Remark: The selection of variations will differ from the workshop in winter, so you can participate again if you want to further extend your repertoire. (But the winter workshop is not a prerequisite.)

Prerequisite: at least ballroom 4 or comparable level

This workshop treats variations of New Yorker figures (promenade) in the Cha Cha Cha, by modifying timing or adding leg actions or turns. Learning and practicing these variations will improve you coordination, musicality, and partnering (lead&follow).

It was a very interesting workshop demonstrating that even a 'boring' and 'well-known' figure taught in Ballroom 1 has a lot of challenging variations. We saw that it's possible to change the timing of the steps and replace some of the steps with turns. Chris always chooses something interesting to show us and not only explains the steps but also some concepts.

Chris does a very good job at explaining difficult figures/variations by first teaching more simple versions to then make it easier to learn the juicy stuff.

We saw variations of the basic step: different ways of replacing the back replace and the chassé. There was something for every level. The people that needed more time for the basic could practice that, while faster learners could apply it in figures.

Great course, I would recommend it to anyone who wants to spice up their pasodoble and wants to dance a bit more than just the 'basic step'. It's cool that we had two lessons, this way we could repeat some of the figures and I could actually memorize some of them.

Chris and Lukas showed us two nice figures to spice up our slowfox. We had enough time to practice the figures and the individual input was very valuable. Chris is really good at deconstructing the figures and explaining the steps in an understandable way, with the right amount of theoretical input.

I enjoyed this introduction to Polka and discovered that there is more to it than jumping around and standing in the tunnel :) Chris is a very good teacher and always chooses interesting things to show us.

Chris‘s course is very well structured, starting with the basic theory and building upon it. There‘s a perfecr combination of theoretical inputs and time to practice; my dance partner and I really notice a big improvement from our side thanks to his inputs!

Oh, open level with Chris and Aisha is one of my favorite courses! They are also giving enough technique. This time we also did some slowfox, and it definitively increased my self confidence in this dance.

This course helped me to finally bring my Paso Doble to the next level. Thanks to it I managed to get away from boring in-place steps and towards a dynamic movement through the room. Already looking forward to the next time I get to dance Paso Doble :D

Der Kurs hatte ein Interessantes Thema, super um das Tanzen abwechslungsreicher zu gestalten. Chris und Lukas unterrichten anschaulich, und erklären präzise aber verständlich, was sie machen. Ich komme gerne wieder in einen Kurs von den beiden.

The Quickstep course was super fun, we learned a good amount of figures and had time to practice them. We also learned a bit about the 'character' of the dance.

Chris hat ein grosses Theoriewissen und streut es in guten Maße in seine Kurse ein. Nicht zu viel, nicht zu wenig, gerade genug dass es interessant ist, man nicht nur die Schritte lernt, sondern auch lernt wie sie zusammen spielen sollen, und was sich auf andere Tänze übertragen lässt.

This is a fantastic course, I have learned so much, particularly how figures can be combined, when they can be danced, and how to dance them well. I also really enjoyed the explanations of concepts like swing and different energies of the steps within figures. Chris brings so much positive energy and happiness to his classes, which makes it even more enjoyable to learn and improve. There was also lots of individual feedback and input from the class.
