Lambazouk developed from Lambada, which was danced in the 1980’s to the Music of Kaoma. This dynamic and expressive dance with its characteristic head movements, body waves and harmonic-creative flair, can be danced to various music styles. In contrast to Zouk (from Rio de Janeiro) Lambazouk originates in the Lambada how it was danced in Porto Seguro. Lambazouk tends to be faster and more energetic-explosive than Zouk, while the most distinctive difference is in the timing/counting of the basic step, similar to Salsa On-1 and Salsa On-2. Lambazouk is danced all over the world and has big communities especially in Barcelona, Amsterdam and Israel.
